The Carefor Elder Abuse Prevention Program provides confidential services that protect older adults experiencing abuse through intervention, support, consultation, and community referrals. We offer community support services within the Eastern Counties including Cornwall, Prescott-Russell, Stormont, Dundas, Glengarry, and Akwesasne. About the Elder Abuse Prevention Network
In 2019, 695,248 Canadian seniors experienced some form of physical, sexual, psychological, or financial abuse resulting in social distress, impairment, and even bodily injury. It is imperative within our local community that we learn about the warning signs and the risk factors associated with elder abuse in order to identify, prevent, and reduce incidents of elder abuse in our community.
The Elder Abuse Prevention Network of Eastern Counties and Akwesasne is a long standing, well established, local non-profit network dedicated to the identification, education, and prevention of elder abuse. The network is comprised of volunteer board members in the areas of criminal justice, social assistance, community outreach, healthcare, and mental health agencies all within our local community. We provide social awareness, educational programs, and social advocacy. The Elder Abuse Prevention Network of Eastern Counties and Akwesasne offers a forum of discussion for elder abuse cases and resolution strategies, providing community resources, social aid, and financial assistance to seniors experiencing elder abuse.
By creating social awareness and enhancing social prevention strategies within our local communities, we can assess and reduce the level of risk, and the prevalence of elder abuse through training programs and educational opportunities for seniors, service providers, caregivers, volunteers, students, and local community members.
