- Do your best to stay healthy and keep up with medical appointments so you remain well
- Educate yourself and know your legal rights
- Choose a trusted Power of Attorney who will act in your best interest
- Become educated and help raise social awareness of elder abuse
As a caregiver, you should:
- Support your loved one to the best of your abilities and seek help when you need it
- Become educated on the community programs and services readily available to you through local organizations
- Your health is just as important as the person whom you’re caring for. Take care of yourself by eating well and making time to do the things you love
- Adopt stress reduction strategies through recreational activities, art, and counselling support
- Become educated and help raise social awareness of elder abuse
